What is the FAFSA?: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is an application to get aid to help pay for college or trade school.
- The FAFSA application opened on December 31st! You can fill it out right now here: Link to FAFSA .

- Create an FSA ID (Account needed to fill out the FAFSA: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
- Your parent/guardian(s) also need to create an FSA ID and fill out their portion of the FAFSA.
- The earlier you fill out the FAFSA, the more aid is available to you if you are eligible. Make sure you keep an eye on college, state, and federal deadlines as well.
- Your school counselors are here to help answer any questions. We will also hold events if you have concerns or questions as you fill out the form or need additional help.
Q: Do I need to fill it out?
A: Yes, even if you are considering attending trade school or college next year, but not certain yet.
Q: I’m not sure if my family will get any money due to our income, do I need to fill it out still?
A: Yes, you may be surprised at the amount of aid you receive by filling out the FAFSA. Michigan is also offering aid to students when you fill out the FAFSA. And many colleges require you to fill out FAFSA to be eligible for scholarships.
